Additional Requirements
  • A copy of a current valid, unrestricted, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license from the state where the applicant is practicing. License is to be kept current while in the program.
  • Completion of required 60 hours of general education and GPA of 2.0 or higher. Transcripts will be reviewed and evaluated for all courses, including the following.
    • Satisfactory completion of communication and computation requirements.
    • ENC 1101 Freshman Communicative Skills I (3)
    • ENC 1102 Freshman Communicative Skills II (3)
    • MAC 1105 College Algebra (3)
    • Completion of approved State of Florida common course prerequisites for nursing programs.
  • 3 credit hours from one of the following African American Courses:
    • AFA 2000 Intro To African American Studies (3)
    • AFA 3104 The African Amer Exp (3)
    • AMH 2091 Introduction to African-American History (3)
  • Students must take the courses below or their equivalent as determined by FAMU authorized personnel:
    • CHM 1031 Chemistry for Health Sciences (3)
    • MCB 3010C/Lab Microbiology (4)
    • BSC 2093C/Lab Anatomy and Physiology I (4)
    • BSC 2094C/Lab Anatomy and Physiology II (4)
    • PSY 2012 Introduction to Psychology (3)
    • DEP 2004 Human Growth and Development (3)
    • HUN 2401 Nutrition (3)
    • STA 2023 Intro to Probability & Statistics I (3)
  • Students with an associate degree must meet all FAMU general education requirements, which can be met with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from a Florida public college.
  • Completion of two sequential courses of foreign language in high school or 8-10 semester hours at the postsecondary level.

Transfer Credit

Students applying for the online RN to BSN program may transfer up to 90 credits from an accredited institution after completion of a transcript evaluation.
